What Should You Expect From XP Service Pack 2?

Microsoft is attempting to encourage Windows users to embrace the new security center updates that are available within the infamous Service Pack 2. There are many questions concerning the advantages that Service Pack 2 actually presents to users as well as the security enhancements and critical problem fixes for the original installation package of Windows XP.

There are upgrades available for each and every version of Windows. Basically, what these upgrades consist of are patches or fixes for problems that have been uncovered or recognized within the Windows operating system after it was released to the public.

How does this affect you? If you choose not to take advantage of the download, then you are opening yourself up to a variety of security risks and issues, not to mention annoying errors that will appear now and then within you XP OS environment.

The service packs are quite large in nature and will require a user that is using any type of connection speed a pretty considerable amount of time to download. You can opt to either download these updates from the web or, order them from Microsoft on a convenient CD.

The question that is beginning to arise from many IT professionals is whether or not this update addresses all of the security flaws that have been uncovered that can not only expose their systems to hackers and other malicious users, but also are open doors to spy ware, viruses, and other harmful software.

The answer to this question is simple - NO. Microsoft only addresses security concerns of these types when users experience safety issues on a large scale. They basically excuse this behavior by explaining that there are so many potential security problems within the infrastructure of an operating system, that it is simply impossible to address them all, especially at one time.

Unfortunately, the same is true of the critical error problems and registry errors within Windows as well. Many times, the error messages that users receive while operating Windows are unnecessary and uncalled for.

Many times, these common errors could be easily fixed and patched, but Microsoft chooses not to address them because they do not consider them to be an 'elevated' concern. The bottom line being that although the Service Pack 2 update is a very helpful, it is not going to solve all of the errors and critical problems that are located within your operating system's framework and registry.

These errors and bugs that exist within your operating system's environment are not only troublesome but can, at times, result in the immediate shutdown of programs, meaning that you lose valuable data and have to invest in time in restoring it.

Fortunately, there is a solution to this problem. There is software available to Microsoft users written and developed by developers who are focused on eliminating these errors and in turn, creating an optimal operating system environment for Windows users. These types of software can occasionally be found as shareware or freeware (software that you do not have to pay for).

One such program that I consider to be an excellent Windows diagnostics tool is PC Doc Pro (http:// ww.pcdocpro.com). If downloaded and used in combination with the Service Pack 2 offered by Microsoft, it can fine-tune your Windows environment, therefore preventing unnecessary crashes and enhancing your computer's operating environment. What's more PC Doc Pro can be downloaded and the analysis is FREE, so if your PC doesn't have those troublesome errors at least you have the peace of mind - and it didn't cost you a penny.
